FAMILY
Robert (Bob) Arlis Keitzer was born June 5, 1902 in Monterey
Indiana. Ida Marie
Hjellum was born Feb 4, 1905 in Milaca, Mille Lacs Co., MN.
Ida was the child of Sever S. Hjellum and Marit Thorsdatter Ruste.
They were married September 21, 1940 at St. John's Catholic Church
(Rectory) in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. Ida was Lutheran,
Robert was Catholic so they could not get married in a Catholic church
so they were married in the rectory. Bride's maid was Dorthy Tholen,
the bridegroom was her husband Larry Tholen.
Robert went to Pharmacy school in Lafeyette, IN.
They ran a drug store in Ft. Wayne Indiana. It was a typical small
town drug store with a soda fountain, penny licorish. The store
was open Moday through Saturday, they stayed home on Sunday.
Their son, Bob, helped with the drug store before he went into the Air
Force. They had the drug store for over 30 years, retiring in 1966 or
1967.
Ida died Feb 13, 1988 in Ft Wayne Indiana. Robert died Sept 27, 1995
in Ishpeming,
MI. They are both buried at St. Anne Cemetery, Monterey, Indiana.

Robert A. Keitzer Sr., 93, of 807 N. Pine St., Ishpeming, died at 10:20
a.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 27, 1995, at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming
Township.
He had been a patient there since Sept. 8.
Mr. Keitzer was born June 5, 1902 in Monterey, Ind., to the late Henry
and
Marietta (Freese) Keitzer. He married the late Ida Marie Hjellum on
Sept.
21, 1940 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was a graduate of the Indiana College of Pharmacy. After graduating,
Mr.
Keitzer workedat his brother's pharmacy in Hammond, Ind. In 1940 he
opened
Keitzer's Pharmacy in Fort Wayne, which he owned and operated until
retirement
in 1968.
He was a registered pharmacist for 50 years and a Life Member of the
North
East Indiana Pharmacist Association.
Mr. Keitzer moved to Ishpeming in May 1988. He was a member of St. John
the
Evangelist Catholic Church of Ishpeming.
Survivors include a son, Robert A. (Carol Ann) Keitzer of Ishpeming; a
daughter,
Carol Sue (J. Lawrence) Caroll of Shadyside, Md.; 10 grandchildren;
five
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was proceded in death by his wife, Ida, in 1988; three brothers,
Charles
J., Wilbert and Harold; and three sisters, Gertrude Keitzer, Frances
Fowble,
and Augusta Kelsey.
A Mass of Christial Burial begins at 8 p.m. Thursday at St. John the
Evangelist
with the Revs Peter Oberto and Vincent Ouellette as co-celebrants.
Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery in Monterey, Ind. Honorary
pallbearers
will be grandsons William J. and Robert Keitzer III and Lawrence J.,
Terry
L., Mark and Anthony Carroll.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bjork & Zhulkie
Funeral
Home of Ishpeming.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.

at home. Born in Milaca, Mich., she retired from General Electric in
1967.
Surviving are her husband, Robert A. Sr.; one daughter, Carol Sue

Brother,
Edwin S. Hjellum, of Pinloe, California,; and 10 grandchildren.
