There is some dispute over this picture. It could be Rudy Steis, son of John Steis. |

Kelsey house in Monterey Indiana. Built 1921-1922 for $14,000. Comments by Charles Kelsey: Roller skating rink in basement. 4 bedrooms and large bathroom upstairs. 2 bedrooms and a bath on ground floor. 4 walk-in closets - no one had many clothes. Large cistern under basement floor. Washed hair and did laundry with water from cistern because it was soft water. Didn't have nice moisturizing soaps at the time. Mary Hellen (Kennerk) & Charles Kelsey set up housekeeping here when married - January 7, 1940. |

Charles in ROTC, 225 Sylvia St. W. Lafeyette, Ind. 1934. Charles had to rent the ROTC uniform for 15$ per year. Had to buy the boots. Only had 1 uniform and wore it 5 days a week. |

Elizabeth (Lizzie) (Steis) Rearick, Augusta (Keitzer) Kelsey,
Mary (Steis) Meyers.
Augusta must have been visiting her aunts up the Steis side. Augustas husband was Arthur Kelsey and his mom was Helena (Steis) Kelsey. The two Steis's in the pic are Helena's sisters. She went by the name Laney. |
|
Comments by Charles Kelsey: Mary Kelsey (Married Rickter) on left, Augusta (Keitzer) Kelsey in middle. 3rd woman on right might have been Mary's friend from nursing school. | |
Charles and Dorthy Keller, 1938. At the Tippecanoe
River Bridge in Monterey. |

Charles and Helen Chapman, 1938. At the Tippecanoe
River Bridge in Monterey. Lawrence bought Charles white pants for
Lawrence's wedding, but this isn't his wedding day. |
These pictures are all from a 1927 vacation, I think.
