Reuben LONG & Esther BINGHAM died in Sardinia, Erie Co, New York.
Lemuel LONG married Esther Abby BINGHAM. Her parents' names were Eleazar BINGHAM & Esther LOOMIS.
Lemuel LONG's mother Esther Abby BINGHAM was born 12 Apr 1776 at Lebanon, New London Co, Connecticut. After she married Reuben LONG she lived with him in Cattaraugus, NY and Buffalo, NY and in Sardinia, Erie Co, NY. Her parents Eleazar BINGHAM & Esther LOOMIS lived in Coventry, Connecticut their entire lives and didn't move to New York.
Reuben LONG (b. 29 Mar 1767 Coventry, CT) was the son of Lemuel LONG & Martha BREWSTER. This Lemuel LONG (b. 12 July 1727 Coventry, CT) was the son of Joseph LONG and Sarah EVARTS.
A biographical sketch of Reuben LONG, from the book HISTORY OF THE ORIGINAL TOWN OF CONCORD by Erasmus Briggs, p. 868-869, says in part,
"Reuben Long (1764-1846) was born in Coventry, CT Mar 29, 1764. In
the spring of 1816 he and his son Silas came to Sardinia (NY) and bought
100 acres of land...in the following September, Mr. Long having previously
returned to Connecticut, the family came on. Their mode of conveyance consisted
of two yoke of oxen with a horse hitched ahead and two one-horse wagons.
They came via Albany, Cayuga Lake and Genesco to Sardinia, where Mr. Long
lived until his death, Apr. 27, 1846...Mr. Long's father's name was Lemuel
Long; his mother's maiden name was Martha Brewster. Two of Reuben Long's
brothers, Rufus and Joseph, were killed in the Revolutionary War.
His children were:
Silas, b. Mar 3, 1796 in Connecticut, went west in 1817; his friends do not
know whether he is alive or not.
Eli, b. Feb 4, 1798, unmarried, died Dec. 8, 1856, in Sardinia.
Patty, b. Nov. 23, 1799, married Joseph McClure in 1823, who died Sept. 1873,
she died recently in Sardinia.
Erastus, b. Oct. 17, 1802, married Hannah Putnam; he died Apr. 10, 1809 *in
Michigan.
Esther, b. May 2, 1805; married Luke Smith; died Sept. 10, 1876 at Arcade.
Joseph, b. May 26, 1807; married Angeline Jewett and lives in Sardinia.
Nancy, b. Dec. 9, 1809; married Luzerne** Hunt and lives in Sardinia.
Malinda, b. Oct. 28, 1811, unmarried; died Apr. 19, 1865.
LEMUEL, b. Oct. 29, 1813, married Jane Schumaker, lives in Iowa.
Charles, b. Oct. 9, 1816, lives in Sardinia."
