Other information: Thomas Swearingen does not appear in his parents’ naturalization papers, indicating that he was born in MD [1]. He was constable of atuxent Hundred by the May 1696 Court of Pr George’s Co [4]. He bought land in Pr George’s Co MD 1702 [1]. He dropped the “van” from the surname and was the first to use Van as a given name for a child [1].
