"Brother George Hinebaugh, a minister of the Bretheren from the Elk Lick church, would occassionally preach in the neighborhood. After three years, the number of baptized had increased so that in the fall of 1814, they appointed a love feast at the home of Brother Jacob Fike, one mile from Markleysburg. An election was held for one 'speaker' and one 'deacon'. The lot fell to Jacob Fike as speaker, and Alexander Thomas as deacon."
